Second Grade
Hello, my name is Christy Jones and I grew up in Giles County, Virginia. I journeyed to rural Franklin County and studied Early Elementary Education at Ferrum College. I returned to Giles County and began my teaching career at Narrows Elementary Middle School in 1996. In 2005, I moved to Eastern Elementary Middle School so I would be at the same school my children would attend. I am excited to be teaching another year of Language Arts to all of the Second Graders. Students are given the opportunity to read online using Epic! Books. Unfortunately, the company isn't offering the free 2 extra hours this year. Students can read any other books or their reading textbook for the 20 minute homework and then use Epic between 7AM-3PM. To get to EPIC! from this page, click the epic! picture link above. Then, follow the directions below. After selecting their name from our grade level profile page, their PIN is the last 4 digits of their student number. This info is also on their green log in cards.

Second Grade students have met our EPIC grade level goal of 4,000 books! Students were able to pick a FOREVER book to take home with them. Throughout the year, we will celebrate with each goal with a FOREVER book and sometimes a special treat or event.
